This 2-hour workshop focuses on opening up your heart, which in turn will open up your mind to the many possibilities yet to be unlocked from within yourself.  “Back-bending” really isn’t so much about bending your back, but more so about opening up the various structures around it.  We will move through this workshop in 3 segments introducing various conditioning exercises to not only increase flexibility but also to build strength for healthy stretching

Unlock Your Handstands

Ever wonder how to even start handstanding? Wonder no more! In this 2-hour workshop we will breakdown the fundamentals of handstanding (form) as well as the advanced variations (how to create different shapes on your hands and the venture to press handstands). 

 

The workshop is broken down into 4 segments:

  1. Lock Your Form

  2. Where To Start

  3. The Straight Line Starts with Rounding 

  4. Quest for the Press

 

The goal of this workshop is for you to walk away with some new insight towards the art of handbalancing.  You might not find yourself pressing immediately after 2 hours (or you might!) but you’ll learn the necessary tools to help you journey towards that goal!

(recommended that you have a minimum practice of bakasana – crow pose) 

Arm-Balancing Upside-Down

This 2-hour workshop is perfect for anyone who wants to learn Crow, Headstand, and Forearmstand.  With arm-balancing it is all about finding the ‘right balance’; that’s easier said than done!  But with a few tips and a thorough breakdown from entry to exit of an arm-balance, it can be much easier.  We will start by visiting the crow (bakasana) family of arm balances and then move into the breakdown of headstand (srisasana) and forearmstand (pinchamayurasana) along with how to flow between the three!

  • The foundation: Bakasana/Baby Bakasana

  • Headstand Srisasana

  • Forearmstand Pinchamayurasana

 

The goal of this workshop is for you to learn the fundamental concepts of crow, headstand, and forearmstand to take with you into your personal practice (studio or home).  All levels welcome!

For most of us, we spend 80% of the day either sitting, standing, or moving in one plane of direction (walking forward).  But the hip joint is made for so much more rotation.  In this workshop, we will move through 4 segments of different exercises to not only increase flexibility but also to build strength for healthy stretching

  1. Front Hip Flexors & Quads

  2. Hamstrings

  3. Outter hips (abductors)

  4. Inner thighs (adductors)

Do you find the concept of back-bending terrifying and even painful?  Then this is the perfect workshop for you to discover how to unlock your spine safely. Contrary to what we might think, back-bending can be quite therapeutic to back pain.  We spend close to 90% of our day sitting, standing, and even sleeping with a posterior curve in our spine (rounding the back).  This habitual pattern eventually causes our vertebra to mimic the action, slowly pressing the discs posteriorly overtime.  Functional back-bending reverses this process, creating space and flexibility within your vertebra and muscles to allow the disc to shift back towards neutral.  This 2-hour all-level workshop focuses on opening the space behind your heart - how to shift the 'bend' from lower spine to upper and middle thoracic spine, relieving the compression and pressure on your lumbar spine. We will move through this workshop in 3 segments introducing various conditioning exercises to not only increase flexibility but also to build strength for healthy backhanding.

Experience a fully integrated practice in this 2 1/2 hour workshop that will include not only a balanced vinyasa sequence but also pranayama breath work - the root of the yoga practice.  Students will be led and guided through a standing yang sequence suitable for beginners with options leading up to variations for advanced practitioners.  Physical practice will conclude with a grounding yin-like sequence for meditative stillness.  Workshop concludes with Yoga Nidra (meditative yogic sleep) to translate the work of the physical body to the mental state.

Practice consists of:

  2. Standing/balancing postures (along with arm/hand balance options)

  3. Heart-opening sequence

This 2-hour workshop is perfect for the novice inverter as well as more experienced inverters looking for additional transitions and options! 

 

Come learn what is necessary to balance on your hands and your forearms.  We will cover the necessary strength components of arm /hand balances as well as the proper alignment to move upside down. Students will learn how to navigate a new awareness within their physical bodies upside down!

In this 2-hour workshop, we will flow through exercises to warm up and unlock the spine, then break down various techniques to increase both flexibility and strength! The focus is to help you shift the 'bend' from your low back and move it into the shoulders and upper/middle back as well as the front of your hips.

If deepening your flexibility around backbending is your goal, this workshop is perfect for you. Come experience how good it can feel to open your heart, which may just unlock a deeper space within.
